Icy

GCH. Lucidity's Blazing Ice

Icy (Canadian Grand Champion Lucidity's Blazing Ice) represents my foray back into Papillons. She was a singleton out of my second Papillon litter ever, after an 8 year hiatus. Her sire, Flint aka MBIS MBISS Am. GCHP. Can. GCHB. Valifyre Freespirit Icy Sparks, SOM was THE dog that rekindled my love for the breed. Years ago, after having imported 3 Papillons that all didn't turn out for one reason or other, I threw in the towel and decided to focus on Cavaliers instead. When I moved back to Vancouver, however, I spotted this beautiful little dog in the ring, and after speaking to a couple of Papillon breeder friends who were hanging out by the ring, I learned that this boy's name was Flint, and that he was currently "unbeatable".

Flint was bred by Kelley Laan of Valifyre Papillons. I always admired Flint from near and far, often lamenting that I didn't have a Papillon bitch that I could breed to him! As fate would have it, an acquaintance in Italy who had two bitches from Yvonne Weber of Nightfire's Papillons in Germany had a litter out of her bitch, Bonnie (Multi Ch. Nightfire's Top Secret) whose sire, Multi Ch. Unas vom Schwabenhof is one of my favourite Papillons of all time. The sire of the litter was Multi Ch. Mi'DiLiva's A Thousand Years, a son of UK Ch. Multi Ch. Gleniren Santediego Sunshoo, and there was a little redhead in the litter that I simply fell in love with.

So as fate would have it, Marina allowed Niffler to come here to Canada, and I could finally have my very own Flint litter!

Icy started her show career with a HUGE BANG, going Best Baby Puppy in Show her second weekend out at 5 months old, under judge Chakkapan Chantarasmee from Thailand.

Icy followed up her early success by finishing her championship at 11 months old, going Best of Breed and Group 2, making her our first homebred group placing dog! In her puppy career, she amassed 4 BPIGs, a Group 2 and Group 4, a Best Owner Handled in Show and multiple Best Baby Puppy Groups and a Best Baby Puppy in Show.

She then went on to finish her grand championship at merely 14 months old!

In 2024, Icy went Best of Opposite Sex at the Papillon Canada National Specialty, the only show she was entered in in Canada all year. She then won the Bred-by class and went Reserve Winners Bitch at Regional Specialty #1 preceding the Papillon Club of America National Specialty under breeer judge, Anita Wright of Draco Papillons. She also placed 2nd and 4th in the massive bred-by class at the next two specialties as well!
